All bloggers have to delete vast numbers of spamming messages every day, but I can’t help noticing that the spamming messages are becoming increasingly cryptic. Today, for instance, my spam filter blocked this message:

Absolutely adore may working difficulty for your daily life along with expansion of what most people passion.

Could anyone out there please interpret this? A virtual pint for the most entertaining interpretation.

    It’s an acrostic where the first letter of each word is the initial of one of the main characters in Anna Karenina.

    Sounds like some of the English written by Japanese scientists that my company rewrites. I’ve read much much worse.

    What’s this, the spam season? Normally I get a few every day but yesterday I had to erase about 100!

    Spam blocking apps look for keywords in the subject line to identify spam. Gibberish is the spammer’s attempt to get round this.This explains:


    • Ah – how disappointing that the explanation should be so prosaidc! Just as I was getting excited about the possibility of this being my entry into the world in international espionage, or something similar! Anyway – thanks for clearing up that mystery.

        Perhaps you should read, or reread, as the case may be, Frank Stockton, to restore the sense of magic and mystery that I’ve so cruelly taken away! I’ve just finished rereading my two favourites, ‘The Griffon and the Minor Canon’ and’ The Lady or the Tiger?’
